Micro Mondo, Part 1: Robot

One night, I was searching for something in the attic. What exactly I was searching for, I can’t recall. The dust in the old house’s attic had begun to form a layer that looked impossible to clean but among the junk, I found a small, mechanical robot that I had played with as a child.

I took the toy robot back to my desk and carefully wiped away the dust.

“I remember this scratch. So many dents… I wonder if it still works.”

Creeeak… Brrrrrr…

With that familiar noise, the robot started to move. Right then, something began to stir within me. A blue planet. It was something I’d once held dear, yet I had completely forgotten it.

“Phantasmagoria.”

Suddenly, the word slipped from my mouth.

Memories from childhood came flooding back. Those innumerable fragments of memory appeared all around the room, taking shape, glittering and swirling, before finally forming into a single blue sphere and flying out of the window at great speed.

“Wh-Where did it go?”

I found it near the coast. A cosmic brooch, suspended against the jet-black void: Phantasmagoria.

“I wonder how I can get there…”
